The stairway to the sky – the Romanesque Alpine road
The inter-regional project involves Italy and Switzerland, that have created a route along the Romanesque historical testimonies between Engadin and Tyrol. It includes as many as 36 Romanesque sites only in South Tyrol. From the medieval Benedictine trail, you get to St. John in Müstair in Switzerland, up to Marienburg above Burgeis, the highest monastery in the Alps. Every year, in October, a day dedicated to the Romanesque with a long program of events, is held.
